After a summer break from our community events, we wanted to get together to eat yummy Ashura. Luckily, the weather was nice enough to stay outside. Thanks to this year again Meltem Fedaioglu for the delicious Ashura she cooked for the Turkcha community.

The Eid celebration was planned together with Tacawa, and the community got together to celebrate this day. Special dessert, baklava, was served for this special day. Deep-fried rolls with cheese, and bulgur salad were delicious foods provided as complimentary by Pera Kitchen Arts.

Welcoming Week brings together immigrants and U.S.-born community members. Welcoming Events were celebrated all over the U.S. between September 13-22. TURKCHA was so honored to be part of it. We celebrated Welcoming Week with the Bellevue City Hall, English Language Learners Alliance, Popcorn Play Party and Cook, Boundless Parenting Group, Echo Pipa, Studio and Mariko. We joined the event with three different categories:

The Eid celebration was planned together with Tacawa, and the community got together to celebrate this day.

Turkcha organized "Asure Day" to introduce this traditional taste with the community. Asure /Noah’s Pudding is an important desert symbolizing unity and togetherness in Turkey. People from different religion and different cultures experienced the Asure tradition for ages. Although there are so many different ingredients in the it, when they get together(unity), they unveil a unique and tasty desert. Neighbor - gatherings and cooking and sharing their Asure with each other make relationships and friendship stronger - this is the tradition in Turkey.
Thank you to our dear guest speakers Tülin Üzgün Yildiz, Azra Rahim , and to our dear announcer, Sebnem Oden. We had a lovely music at the event. Turkish folk music band, Siyavend, did a great job!

Welcoming week is annual series of events in which communities bring together immigrants, refugees, and native-born residents to raise awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone. Turkcha was participating this event with several different organization. Turkcha Youth Choir sang songs and Anadolu Youth Dancers performed Turkish folk dance.

Move, dance, be healty! We organized Zumba event at YMCA in Bellevue. Our amazing volunteer zumba instructor Surabhi Chauhan ensured that everbody had a great time. We would like to thank Bellevue YMCA and Alex for giving us space for this event and for all their help, and Debbie Lacy, the guest speaker who came and talked with us as we all ate delicious food from our volunteers.

We celebrated Eid-al-Fitr with our community by having potluck picnic at Marymoor Park. Kids were the big focus of this celebration. We wanted them to feel excitement of Eid, so we provided activities such as face painting, balloon twisting as weel as small gave them small gifts.

On December 17, the night of Mevlana's death, we gathered to remember 13th century philosopher, mystic, scholar and founder of the order of the Whirling Dervishes, Jelaluddin RUMI. Sufi music and songs performed by Mevlana Sufi Ensemble and Friends.Rev. Karen Lindquist from Interfaith Community Sanctuary gave a short speech about Rumi.
